There are more signs of life at the end of the COVID tunnel!
Orion Kim was accepted to the Young Artists Program of Yellow Barn, an international center for chamber music. One of the most prestigious programs of its kind in the world, the Young Artists Program brings together 32 instrumentalists from across the U.S. and abroad. The 3 week chamber music program offers intensive study and 4 public performances. Orion will have coaching sessions, private lessons, public performances, masterclasses, theory workshops, rehearsals and practice time. Orion is 1 of just 2 pianists selected for the program. He will most likely be the youngest of the participants as many are college-age and attend such notable schools as Juilliard, Eastman, New England Conservatory, and the institutes of Curtis, Cleveland, Peabody, as well as the Universities of Harvard, Rice, Yale, and Bard College, among others. This will undoubtedly be a life-changing experience for this young man.
On top of this great news for Orion, we have still more! Will Gannon and André Peck were both accepted to the Piano Texas International Festival and Academy! Held in Fort Worth at Texas Christian University School of Music, Piano Texas is celebrating its 40th year. Our 2 young men are 2 of only 24 selected internationally by video recording. The selection committee stated that the level of applicants was extremely high and represented the countries of England, Ireland, France, Poland, Spain, Canada, China, Japan, Korea, and many states of the U. S. For the first time ever, Piano Texas will offer a concerto competition in which the winner(s) will have the privilege to perform with the world class Fort Worth Symphony. Will and André will have the opportunity to study with some of the most renowned pianists and teachers in the world. They will each receive a Master Class, 4 lessons, and 3 public performances in addition to the concerto competition. And as a topper offer, our beloved Kenny Broberg will appear at the festival as guest artist in an astounding solo program! Jo Anne and I are planning on going out to the festival for a few days to see/hear Will and Andre, and to attend Kenny’s recital.
More later! . .
