This past Saturday our great alumnus, Kenny Broberg, won First Prize in the Hastings International Piano Competition in England!! He was awarded $12,300 and a performance with the Royal Philharmonic in June in Bexhill. Bexhill is a resort community just south of London on the southern coast of the United Kingdom. He will be performing Tchaikovsky's Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor. As a result of his First Place win, Kenny will also receive additional engagements in the U.S. and abroad.
In addition to this thrilling victory, it was just announced today that Kenny has been selected to compete in the 2017 Fifteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition!! It takes place May 25-June 10 at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth Texas. Almost 300 applied, and 141 auditioned live in seven cities around the world. From those, 30 competitors, representing 16 nations, were selected and will be welcomed in Fort Worth in May and June. Many view the Cliburn as the most prestigious competition in the world today.
Congratulations to Kenny!!
